ASSESSMENT
In both psychotherapy and trauma therapy a thorough assessment is critical, it is the foundation upon which all good therapy is built. As Dr Blair-West will normally take two to three appointments (depending on the complexity of your history) just to complete this phase, it is a good idea to book multiple appointments in the first instance - you can always give them away (with notice) but as he is so busy you may otherwise wait weeks between appointments.
These initial assessment appointments can be as close to each other as you like to get the assessment completed asap.
DURATION
Initial appointments are typically for 45 minutes. Please arrive 15 minutes early for your first appointment to give you time to find a park (see 'Finding us'), find Dr Blair-West's consulting rooms and fill out some background paperwork.
As Dr Blair-West is booked out well in advance with back-to-back patients, with a range of day-to-day matters requiring his attention, running late is inevitable. Nevertheless, he works hard to ensure that he rarely runs more than 10 minutes late in his practice.
Please note that if Dr Blair-West runs late for your appointment he will then run late to ensure that you get your full 45 minutes. If, however, you run late, he will not keep other patients waiting (or you waiting, if you are the 'next' patient!) and this time will come off your time.
